Game 1 vs OC Jax Sunday July 6th

The Brewers look to continue their scoreless inning streak as they come off a back to back shutout against the SLO Blues. Today is the start of a double header against the OC Jax. Game 1 starter is Andrew Encinas(UNLV) who throws 2 innings striking out 4 and no runs. As a staff the Brewers ran out 7 pitchers for this game, totals include striking out 11 and throwing 9 scoreless innings as a pitching staff. The scoreless inning streak stretches to 27 straight innings without giving up a run and lowering the team ERA to 1.95.

The bats stay hot as Daniel Delaney(Valparaiso) lead the team with 3 hits today as well as driving in 1 run. Dylan Moore (UCF) continues to raise his average(.366) as he goes 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s. Elliot Barzilli (Georgia Tech) keeps pace with Dylan as he drives in 2 off of 2 hits and continues to impress from both sides of the plate. Nick Anderson (Va. Tech) had the hardest hit balls this afternoon as he doubled twice down the left field line with one of them almost living the yard. As a team, the Brewers hit up and down the lineup all afternoon and improve their record to 14-4 with a 7 to 0 win this afternoon.

Game 2 vs OC Jax Sunday July 6th

Matt Custred (Texas Tech) gets the start for the second game in today’s double header and throws a solid three innings, giving up one run and striking out five and picks up his first win on the season. The Brewers had a season long scoreless streak come to an end at 29 straight innings. The next three innings combined for three different pitchers as we get into the mental breakdown of the 7th inning. Jacob Warken (Cypress JC) throws the 7th inning where his defense doesn’t  show up with him as they have two costly errors that leads to a 4 run 7th inning, all un-earned. To close out the game was Matt Saeta (Davidson) who throws a solid two innings to hold on for the win. The Brewers pitching staff has lowered their team ERA to a dominant 1.88.

Tyler Schultz (Tennessee) lead the second game with 2 hits as he continues to get comfortable at the plate this season. Ryan Cooper (UC Irvine) had a timely hit in the 3 run 7th to build insurance that would stretch the lead to 6-1. As a team, the Brewers combined for 9 hits and 6 runs as they continue to stay hot on an 8 game winning streak as their record reaches 15-4. The Brewers hit the road on Wednesday July 9th against the South Division rival Santa Paula Halos as they look to control the division lead.
